Legalization Of Marijuan Recreational And Medicinal Purposes

Marijuana: Recreational to Cultural to Medicinal Purpose and Legalization Kalpana Sapkota Northwestern Oklahoma State University Abstract This paper provides detailed information about the controversial topic that is the legalization of marijuana. Different articles proved that legal status of marijuana has been debated vigorously and will continue to be a heated debate for years to come. Marijuana has its negative effect but it can be used for recreational, cultural and medicinal purposes. Different people have different views regarding legalization of marijuana, but the most significant argument against legalization is that governmental approval of marijuana as a prescription drug would send the wrong message to the general population and would cause more extensive recreational use of this drug. The appropriate government response to the negative effects is to fight them directly b stopping the illegal practitioners from doing them (Barnes, 2000, p.29). Legalization of marijuana does not force people to use it but it is a personal choice to have it or not. Marijuana has its positive and negative effects, but the gove rnment should make plan to increase the positive effect and to eliminate the negative effect. Keywords: controversial, neuropharmacologic, long term memory, short term memory, Mahashivaratri. Marijuana the common drug The term â€Å"marijuana† is a word with many different names and indistinct origins. It is a Latin, American and Spanish word.

Effective As Compare To The Hard Skills †Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About The Effective As Compare To The Hard Skills? Answer: Introduction It has been found that soft skills are more effective as compare to the hard skills. Soft skills in project management play a significant role in making the project progress a lot better and well-organized. Hard skills in project management also have its importance. However, project management is considered as both; art and science as well. It is referred as science because project managers should need to estimate the budgets, making of the schedules and the management of costing is involved in to it. It is known as art and the main reason behind it includes the handling of the team members with their opinions and perspectives (Lucs, 2014). Thus, it is the duty of the manager to manager to use all the required techniques for managing and for making an effective communication process with them. Discussion It is denoted that soft skills in project management incorporate managing the staff members, guaranteeing customers for providing satisfaction in order to retain them for the long period of time. In addition to this, it can be stated that in order to create a favorable atmosphere the members of the team should need to work according to the given budget of the project and also with the right co-ordination of the individuals involved in the team (Pandey, 2015). This can only be possible when the team members are aware about the use of the soft skills. Moreover, there are many other reasons that highlight the significance of including the soft skills in their tasks and duties. In the view of Wheeler (2016), hard and soft skills the performance of the project can make it a lot better. However, soft skills are the most operational ones in order to enhance the project performance. Therefore, soft skills should need to be integrated the most in the organization. For this purpose, the management of the organization should need to incorporate trainings for their employees so their knowledge can be increased regarding the significance of the soft skills. It has been found that CHAOS chronicle (The Standish Group) reported that the failure rate of IT projects in USA is increasing. It is due to the reason that it helps the management to achieve the objectives of the projects in the most productive manner. Some reports showed that about 50% of the software projects suffered. It is due to the reason that the individuals with its making or formulation are not able to match decided deadline for the project (Rao, 2014). Moreover, it upsurges the budget of the project up to 50% because of the delay in its ending. This enhances the use of soft skills in many of the companies. The leader of the project must have to use the soft skills in order to manage the staff members who are part of the software project so it can be ended on the required time. Advantages of Using Soft Skills in Project Management It has been found that one of the core reasons for the failure of the project is ineffective communication. Soft skills is all about communicating in the entire making of the project, so more productive outcomes can be expected from it (Carvalho, 2015). Soft skills also remove the communication gap between the fellow members. Moreover, apart from the communication use in making the progress of the project better. One cannot ignore the importance of written and spoken skills of English. While formulating about the project instructions the associated stake holders should need to ensure that all of the related authorities must be able to co-ordinate with the written instructions as well. Hence, there are so many advantages that are related with the soft skills in the project management (Mousawa et al., 2015). Conclusion In a nutshell, the managers and the other authorities of the organization should need to make sure that they are using the right set of soft skills for the ending the project. The right use of the skills and effective communication a lot of hassles in the projects can get resolved which eventually helps in its management as well. Considering this in mind, in the recent times now all the organizations are trying to get soft skills knowledge. The management of the companies is also making their employees ready to understand its significance so they can be able to apply it on their projects in the most productive way. Crazy Old Holden Essays - Fiction, Literature, Literary Realism

Crazy Old Holden Crazy Old Holden If you really want to hear about it, there is alot of symbolism in Catcher in the Rye. This novel, written by J.D. Salinger, utilizes symbols to portray different themes. Of these symbols there are three that are strongly related to Holden. The operation, being a madman, and stepping of a curb all play a vital role in the novel by J.D. Salinger. Holden is a very disturbed individual. Every since the death of his little brother, Allie, he has been going crazy. Holden even describes himself as a madman. Holden talked about being a madman while he was talking to the cab driver. Holden asked where the ducks went when the weather got cold. The cab driver thought this was a strange question and turned around to look at Holden like he was a madman (60). The cabby thought that it was an absurd question because everyone knew that the ducks went south for the winter. That is why the cab drive turned around to look at Holden like he was crazy. Another instance where Holden mentioned the madman was while talking to Sunny, the prostitute. Sunny came to Holdens place because he wanted to have sex with her. Instead, Holden didnt want to have sex, but he wanted to talk. Sunny thought that this was very odd of Holden to want to talk to a prostitute, rather than have sex, so she looked at him as if he were a madman (95). Going along with the madman theme is the operation that Holden talks about. The operation he is always talking about is a brain operation. He speaks of it while on the train with Mrs. Morrow. She asked Holden to visit her and her son during the break. However, Holden didnt want to so he told her that he had to have this operation (58). Another time that Holden mentions the operation is with Sunny. While they are talking Holden tells her he had an operation (96). He tells Sunny about having an operation W. Oren 2 because she wonders why he does not want to have sex with her. In both cases, there is something wrong with Holden, and he knows it. That is why he talks about the brain operation. He knows that he can be crazy and he wants to try and fix it. He talks about the brain operations because he thinks that will help him fix his problem. A major symbol in the novel is the curb. After Holden sees a little boy crossing the street he crosses the street after him. However, he felt differently about stepping onto the street. Holden says that every time I came to the end of a block and stepped off the goddam curb, I had this feeling that Id never get to the other side of the street (197). This quote is a large motif. Throughout the novel there is a feeling of death. Holden feels that while walking across the street he may not make it to the other side. he knows that he is gong crazy and that it might actually kill him. Throughout the story these three symbols play a key role in letting a reader know what is going on with Holden. The madman is a sign of him being crazy. The operation is a symbol for trying to fix the craziness. Holden knows that there is something wrong with his mind and he wants a brain operation to fix it. The third symbol, the curb, is the symbol for death. Holden thinks that if he does not have an operation to fix himself he will die. Without these symbols the reader would have no idea what is going on inside Holdens head. The quotes in this paper are alot easier to understand if you read the novel. But they might be even easier if you knew Holden. God, I wish you couldve been there. Book Reports

Qualities of Good Leadership †Humanities 4 Page Essay

Qualities of Good Leadership – Humanities 4 Page Essay Free Online Research Papers Qualities of Good Leadership Humanities 4 Page Essay A good leader needs to know when to make decisions and when to let others decide. If people are always left to do what they want, time and resources get wasted. On the other hand, if people always follow orders, morale starts to decline, wasting even more time and resources. In a survival situation, this can be a matter of life or death. About a year back, me and some friends were out for a nice brutal birthday party. We found ourselves in a forest somewhere near Campbellsville, split into two teams, armed with paintball guns. Each team had two objectives in this particular game of capture the flag. The first was to bring the enemy’s flag back to your own base, and the second was to survive. We decided that we would set up a democratic system in which if a problem occurred, we would let everyone vote on who would get the flag and who would defend ours. As it turned out, everyone wanted to get the other flag and leave our flag alone, which posed a problem because we couldn’t leave our own flag unattended. We put our government into action, in the end leaving me and a good friend of mine in charge of offence. We left and began our trek through the forest looking for any sign of the enemy flag. Meanwhile, the other two also left after we were out of sight and worked their way to the flag. In the end, we ended up shooting down our own men defending the new flag we had just acquired, because they decided to take matters into their own hands and neglect their jobs. When two members of the other team returned with our flag, we realized what had happened. We had mistaken o ur friends as two opponents because they didn’t follow the plan. In the end, we lost because of poor leadership. Guidelines were put in place that were not favored by part of the group, and as such were not followed. We failed to realize that jobs had to be made and people made to do them to keep our biggest priority, winning, in perspective. A good leader needs to be able to keep their long term goals in check while all the time keeping tabs on what needs to be done in the present. We lost our balance between offense and defense, causing us to lose the game. Good leadership requires a bit of democracy and a bit of dictatorship. We live in a world where with privilege comes responsibility. Taking William Golding’s ‘Lord of the Flies’ as an example, Ralph’s leadership style failed because priorities, like keeping the signal fire going, were forgotten. Likewise, Jack’s leadership style failed because it was on the other side of the equation; nobody had their say in what went on and Jack made poor decisions for the group. If both styles were combined, everyone could be assigned a job that must be done as well as have their own say in how things run on the island. Just as the two defensive players did in our game of paintball, Jack decided to leave his responsibilities and focus on his privileges, causing the group to lose as a whole. Confusion as to who our team members were appeared, and in the end we saw them as enemies. The confusion seen in the book ‘Lord of the Flies’ during Simon’s death can, in a way be compared to the way our teammates were shot down in a lack of understanding caused by poor leadership. The kids on the island needed to rely on each other to survive, but instead were split apart and misled. They lost sight of their main priority, survival. Guidelines are a part of any leader’s job. Take laws for instance; they are all guidelines as to how one should act under different circumstances. If you forget about your responsibilities and break a law, you have to deal with the consequences. In some scenarios you get a fine, while others might land you in jail. Who decides what will happen to you, should you forget your responsibilities? The penalties associated with breaking various laws are made by the government of the country you live in. Some countries have similar laws, some do not. The death sentence is a hot topic in the United States today; its management feels that if certain guidelines are not met, people should be put to death, whereas a good percent of the population feel this sort of sentence should never be taken into consideration. When there is some disagreement between how certain guidelines should be handled, conflict emerges and governments split in two, each side with its own ideology. This can be seen in ‘The Lord of the Flies’, at the point where Jack decides he is fed up with Ralph’s approach and forms his own tribe, separate from the original. Different guidelines emerge in the two groups, Jacks having more severe punishment for the most part, because he feels that certain levels of punishment are necessary to prevent a rehash. In our game, members of the team that did not follow the plan would be hog tied and subjected 8 rounds of paintballs, we probably would have won. Generally, the consequences associated with not adhering to a guideline are made to be unfavorable enough that the guideline will be followed, if only to forgo any punishment later down the road. A good leader needs to know where to draw the line with these punishments, which never happened in the case of Ralph and Simon from ‘Lord of the Flies’. On the one hand, we have Ralph, who chose not to punish those who waive their duties, and Jack, who went far beyond the threshold of insanity in his punishments. A good leader needs to find a sort of balance between these two methods, not leaving everything up in the air, but also never controlling with fear. The last, but certainly not least vital quality of a good leader is the ability to not only prioritize, but manage several levels of priorities in equality. Just as in the game of paintball we had more than one priority, the kids in ‘The Lord of the Flies’ also had many. Their goals were broken up into short and long term; the long term goal was to be brought home, and the short term goal was to survive on the island until that time came. The passing of the boat while the signal fire was out, was an example of poor leadership and the inability to keep both long and short term goals under control. Having the hunters also keep the fire going was a mistake, because they could only manage these goals one at a time. While they were hunting, the signal fire was dwindling away, and while they were keeping the fire going, they were missing possible good opportunities to catch a pig. If the hunters were put only in charge of hunting and the group building huts was split off into two groups, one to continue building and one to watch the signal fire, each would have a job to do that didn’t interfere with any other job. There would have been no arguments over the signal fire, Jacks tribe might well have not formed into its own dictatorship government, and all the kids would have been able to return home at the first passing of the ship. How does the promotion strategy effect the customer purchase Dissertation

How does the promotion strategy effect the customer purchase - Dissertation Example This was a qualitative study based on primary data collection through questionnaire. The objectives of the study have been achieved. The study finds that advertising has a long-term orientation while other elements of the promotion mix, such as sales promotion, publicity and interactive promotions have an immediate impact resulting in consumer purchase. Sales promotion initiatives such as free offers and coupons tend to draw consumers instantly. Online marketing through social media platforms fetch tremendous publicity. These build awareness which, with further constant promotions can give rise to interest and desire to purchase the brand. Thus, promotions first create a brand perception on the minds of the consumers and then gradually turn them into consumers. However, there cannot be a set strategy applicable to all companies or products and services. The study concludes by highlighting the limitations and making recommendations for further research on the subject. Marketers usually build upon existing standard strategies adopted by others. However, standard strategy such as celebrity endorsement is no more sufficient to entice the customer. Consumers today can choose where, when and how they engage with a brand and they prefer to do so online (Launchfire Interactive, 2008). They respect innovative marketing programs that v alue their customers as partners, and that rewards them for their interest and engagement. This consumer demand and consumer consciousness has resulted in the emergence of a new marketing mix element – interactive promotions. Women are the Stronger Sex Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Women are the Stronger Sex - Essay Example Women are more nurturing than men because they have to be. Women care for others. This does not mean men do not have the capacity to nurture, but women as a majority have a greater capacity. Women take care of children, the sick, and elderly family members. One author reveals: Over the years, women have won access to the paid workplace, but they have yet to win the social change that truly acknowledges the contributions of unpaid care to the economy and society. Nurturing or caring for another individual involves things not considered manly. An example would be changing diapers, either a child or a parent. Some men do changes diapers, but all women with children change diapers. Women have to nurture, which make them the stronger sex. Women are also physically stronger, not in strength but in health and living with more illness. In the US, a woman’s life expectancy is 79 years, while a man’s life expectancy is 72 years (Cromie). Women live longer than men worldwide. Cromie states, â€Å"While men die from their diseases, women live with them." Although women live longer, they develop â€Å"arthritis, osteoporosis, and diabetes†. This attests to the physical endurance of women. Recently, women have been urged to only donate whole blood, not plasma. In Oklahoma, women have been prohibited from donating plasma. This is due to an antibody that women develop when they are pregnant but are immune to, but men are not. This has caused complications in transfusions, leading to pulmonary problems. Their bodies are stronger than that of a man.

Evaluation Research Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Evaluation Research - Essay Example An examination of these types would lead to a better understanding of the overall importance of evaluation research as well as the impact it has on the implementation of various government programs. The first type of evaluation research is one which evaluates a process. For example, in the health industry the process by which a person gets admitted to a hospital in a given location could be evaluated through research, case studies, interviews and then policy makers could be given advice as to how the process can be improved (ACT Health Promotion, 2002). The satisfaction level of the people using the services provided concerning their health, as well as the reach of a program connected with public health improvement could both be evaluated through process evaluation to give public officials a better picture of how successful or unsuccessful a policy is. Evaluation research can be carried out by both public and private organizations as the focus of the research is to try and improve the processes involved in the health services industry. The next level of evaluation research focuses on the impact which a certain policy or a certain mandate has on the delivery of services (Kann et. al. 1995). In the context of health services, suppose a policy was created by which only doctors who had been trained in Australia were allowed to practice medicine and any doctor or nurse who had a foreign qualification was simply barred from working in Australia. The impact of such a policy could be quite severe and could even be negative as Australian doctors could be barred from practicing elsewhere in the world. Other policies, such as making sure that the ambulance which carries a person to the hospital for emergency treatment would also carry them back may have a positive or negative impact and these can only be determined through evaluation research which looks at the real impact of a policy. Impact evaluation often

The Negative Impact of Industrialization on Children in Mahews The Watercress Girl :: Watercress Girl Essays

The Negative Impact of Industrialization on Children in Mahew's The Watercress Girl The age of Industrialization brought about many enlightening changes to urban society. The technical innovations of the machine age and the inventions of mass transit (railroad) brought people in droves to the cities, forcing crowded unsanitary conditions. The increased need for workers put women and children into the workforce, providing cheap labor, but resulting in inhumane working conditions and "some of the worst evils of the factory system, [in which] workers, including children, toiled for up to sixteen hours a day, six days a week, under inhuman conditions: deafening noise, poor ventilation, dangerous machinery..." (Longman, p. 1818). Even though the industrial revolution brought about more jobs, "periodic economic depressions resulted in unemployment." (Longman, p. 1819) The suffering of the children was by far the worst of society's ills. Henry Mahew's four volume "London Labour and the London Poor" (1851) depicts the plight of the common people in the aftermath of the industrialization of London's society. He interviewed hundreds of London's poor and gave voice to the forgotten workers, particularly the children, who earned meager subsistence from "hawking goods, begging, performing, and providing various services, from running errands to prostitution." (Longman, p. 1838) "The Watercress Girl" is an account from Henry Mahew's four volume works. It symbolizes the harsh reality of child labor and the pathetic conditions in which many of the poor lived. The watercress girl, as many of the urban poor children, had lived in her short life such conditions as to virtually have no childhood. She skipped those years and went straight into womanhood, by virtue of all that she had done and seen, "..although only eight years of age, had entirely lost all childish ways, and was, indeed, in thoughts and manner, a woman." (Longman, p. 1838) Other references indicate that she was far beyond her years, that the life she had led thus far had aged her considerably, "her little face, pale and thin with privation, was wrinkled where the dimples ought to have been, and she would sigh frequently." (Longman, p. 1838) The children of this time did not have the leisure to enjoy their youth. Hard times, starvation, crowded conditions prevented children from their inherent right to youth. Frequently, children too young to work in the factories took care of even younger children, "before that, I had to take care of a baby for my aunt.

Sales and Distribution Management

BRAND BUILDING STRETEGY OF AIRTEL A brand is a name or trademark connected with a product or producer. Brands have become increasingly important components of culture and the economy, now being described as â€Å"cultural accessories and personal philosophies†. Brand strategy is much more than visual identity. While a beautiful logo, catchy color scheme, and clever tagline are all elements of a brand strategy, they are merely supporting elements. Behind Nike's â€Å"Swoosh† and AIRTEL's â€Å"AIRTEL† are all the elements of a brand strategy, the activities the companies engaged in to give target buyers a reason to buy their product or service and not a competitor's. While the visual identity may elicit a response, it does not cause the response—the elements of brand strategy do. Elements of Brand Strategy To build a powerful brand, companies need to have all the elements of brand strategy in place. There are many elements of brand strategy. †¢ Brand strategy includes targeting †¢ Positioning is an element of brand strategy Product or service configuration and pricing †¢ Marketing communications (e. g. , advertising and direct marketing) †¢ Media allocation, an important part of brand strategy †¢ Customer service is included in brand strategy What’s in a Brand? Sometimes it’s easier to understand what something is by first understanding what it is not. A brand is not a name. It’s not a logo. It’s not a product, service or business. Others have described it as a promise, an expectation and, ultimately, an experience that a person—a customer, patient, guest, visitor, physician, or employee—has with your product or service. Mission, vision, values, strategic plan, and brand strategy: Where do they connect? Most organizations’ brands are inspired by their mission, vision and values statements. The organization’s strategic plan will drive the long-term vision for what the organization will do, and the brand strategy should help the organization define why and how they will accomplish those goals. The real differentiator comes when you discover what makes your brand unique, giving it a market advantage. Consider Nike. The brand is not the â€Å"swoosh. † That’s a logo. The brand is not â€Å"Just do it. † That’s a slogan. Their brand strategy—what makes them number one in sports apparel—is an attitude: Give the consumer the freedom to just do the sport. So, when the Nike strategic (business) plan called for a diversification strategy into athletic equipment, such as golf balls, the brand strategy guided Nike to understand why that strategy was appropriate and how it had the potential to strengthen the brand AIRTEL: It's All About the Brand |Bharti Airtel  [pic] | |Telecom giant Bharti Airtel is the flagship company of Bharti Enterprises. BRAND AMBASSADORS OF AIRTEL SHAHRUKH KHAN——–[pic] SACHIN TENDULKAR—–[pic] A R REHMAN—————[pic] SAIF AND KAREENA——-[pic] VIDYA BALAN AND MADHAVAN– [pic][pic] To understand the brand strategy, let’s first look at the brand building exercise associated with AirTel — a brand that had to be repositioned recently to address new needs in the market. When the brand was launched seven years ago, cellular telephony wasn’t a mass market by any means. For the average consumer, owning a cellular phone was expensive as tariff rates (at Rs 8 a minute) as well as instrument prices were steep — sometimes as much as buying a second-hand car. Bharti could have addressed the customer by rationally explaining to him the economic advantage of using a mobile phone. But Sachdev says that such a strategy would not have worked for the simple reason that the value from using the phone at the time was not commensurate with the cost. â€Å"Instead of the value-proposition model, we decided to address the sensory benefit it gave to the customer as the main selling tack. The idea was to become a badge value brand,† he explains. So the AirTel â€Å"leadership series† campaign was launched showing successful men with their laptops and in their deluxe cars using the mobile phone. In simple terms, it meant Airtel was positione aspirational brand that was meant for leaders, for customers who stood out in a crowd. Did it work? Repeated surveys following the launch showed that there were three core benefits that were clearly associated with the brand — leadership, dynamism and performance. These were valuable qualities, but they only took AirTel far enough to establish its presence in the market. As tariffs started dropping, it became necessary for AirTel to appeal to a wider audience. And the various brand-tracking exercises showed that despite all these good things, there was no emotional dimension to the brand — it was perceived as cold, distant and efficient. Sachdev and his team realized that in a business in which customer relationships were the core this could be a major weakness. The reason? With tariffs identical to competitor Reliance Infocomm. and roughly the same level of service and schemes, it had now become important for Bharti to â€Å"humanize† AirTel and use that relationship as a major differentiation. The brand had become something like Lufthansa — cold and efficient. What they needed was to become Singapore Airlines, efficient but also human. A change in tack was important because this was a time when the cellular market was changing. The leadership series was okay when you were wooing the creme de la creme of society. Once you reached them you had to expand the market so there was need to address to new customers. By that time, Bharti was already the leading cellular subscriber in Delhi with a base of 3. 77 lakh (it now has 1. 2 million customers). And with tariffs becoming more affordable — as cell companies started cutting prices — it was time to expand the market. How could Bharti leverage this leadership position down the value chain? Surveys showed that the concept of leadership in the customer’s minds was also changing. Leadership did not mean directing subordinates to execute orders but to work along with a team to achieve common objectives — it was, again, a relationship game that needed to be reflected in the AirTel brand. Also, a survey showed that 50 per cent of the new customers choose a mobile phone brand mostly through word-of-mouth endorsements from friends, family or colleagues. Thus, existing customers were an important tool for market expansion and Bharti now focused on building closer relationships with them. That is precisely what the brand tried to achieve through its new positioning under the AirTel â€Å"Touch Tomorrow† brand campaign. This set of campaigns portrayed mobile users surrounded by caring family members. Says Sachdev: â€Å"The new campaign and positioning was designed to highlight the relationship angle and make the brand softer and more sensitive. † As it looks to expand its cellular services nationwide —to eight new circles apart from the seven in which it already operates — Bharti is now realizing that there are new compulsions to rework the AirTel brand, and a new exercise is being launched to this effect. Right now, the company is unwilling to discuss the new positioning in detail. But broadly, the focus is on positioning AirTel as a power brand with numerous regional sub-brands reflecting customer needs in various parts of the country. If AirTel is becoming more humane and more sensitive as a brand, Bharti has also understood that one common brand for all cellular operations might not always work in urban markets that are now getting increasingly saturated. To bring in new customers, the company decided that it needed to segment the market. One such experiment, launched last year, is Youtopia, a brand aimed at the youth in the 14 to 19 age bracket and for those who are â€Å"young at heart†. With its earlier positioning, AirTel was perceived as a brand for the well-heeled older customer; there was nothing for younger people. With Youtopia, AirTel hoped to reverse that. In order to deliver the concept, AirTel offered rock bottom tariff rates (25 paise for 30 seconds) at night to Youtopia customers — a time when they make the maximum number of calls. It also set up merchandising exercises around the scheme — like a special portal for young people to buy things or bid for goods. The company is now looking at offering other services at affordable prices to this segment which include music downloads on the mobile and bundling SMS rates with normal calls to make it cheaper for young people to use. The other experiment that Bharti has worked on is to go in for product segmentation through the Tango brand name. The brand was created to offer mobile users Internet-interface services or what is known as WAP (Wireless Application Protocol). The idea was to bring Internet and mobile in perfect harmony. The name was chosen from the popular movie title It Takes Two To Tango: basically, you need the two services to tango to offer customers a new choice†, says Sachdev. This, however, had less to do with the branding exercise as with inefficiency of service (accusingly slow download speeds) and the limited utility of WAP services. Subsequently, the ads were withdrawn, but the company re-iterated that the branding exercise could be revived because Tango will be the brand to offer GPRS services — or permanent Internet connectivity on the mobile phone — which AirTel is expected to launch soon. The Magic: Perhaps the more ambitious experiment has been with Magic — the pre-paid card. The idea was to make the brand affordable, accessible and, most importantly, feasible as a means of expanding the market even faster. PHASE I – Magic was aimed at bringing in infrequent users of a mobile phone into the market and assure him that he would have to pay only if he made a call. Such a customer used the phone sparingly — mostly for emergencies — and was not willing to pick up a normal mobile connection with its relatively high rentals (pre-paid cards do not include rental charges). To achieve its objectives Bharti did three things. .One, the product was made available at prices ranging from Rs 300 to Rs 3,000 with no strings attached and was simple to operate. Two, the product was made accessible and distributed through small stores, telephone booths and even kirana shops so that the offering was well within arms reach †¢Third, to make the product more â€Å"approachable† to the customer, the company came with vernacular ad campaigns like à ¢â‚¬Å"Magic Daalo Se Hello† which appealed to local sensibilities. This apart, the company roped in Karisma Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan for a major ad campaign all across Delhi, a ruse that saw the number of subscribers go up from 5. 47 lakh to 12 lakh today, overtaking Essar’s branded pre-paid card Speed, which was launched much ahead of Magic. The company is now re-working its Magic strategy even further. Earlier, the branding strategy was aimed at roping in only interested customers — that is, customers who were already inclined to opt for mobile services. But now, with basic service providers having been allowed limited mobility at far cheaper rates, mobile service providers could find themselves under threat again. That is why the new exercise is aimed at co-opting non-adopters. While the exact strategy is under wraps, insiders say the new branding strategy would be aimed at offering them value which they had not perceived would be available from using a pre-paid card. PHASE II – Bharti used AirTel Magic to build a strong value proposition and accelerate market expansion through India’s first national pre-paid card TV brand campaign ? First time ever in India – any pre-paid card brand goes on TV A combination of the film genre exposed through the TV medium designed to connect with the masses of India ? Youth based – romance driven strategy platform makes the value proposition of AirTel Magic – ‘Mumkin Hai’ come alive ? All elements – user imagery, context, tone & language created to connect the category to the lives of the SEC B & SEC C segment – the middle class non-mobile user. ? AirTel Magic positions itself on the platform of being excellent for emergency situations – increasing productivity as a part of everyday life. ? Sharukh Khan makes ‘everything in life possible’ while romancing pretty Kareena Kapoor with AirTel Magic, India’s leading pre-paid mobile card. AirTel today unveiled its strategy for market expansion with the launch of its new AirTel Magic pre-paid card brand campaign – ‘Magic hai to Mumkin hai’. The strategy is targeted at the non-user segment defined as young adults, 15-30 years of age; in the Sec B & C segment is aimed at accelerating market expansion. The value proposition is centered around a person’s desire to make all his / her dreams, ambitions & aspirations instantly possible. The new campaign for AirTel Magic is all about empowering millions of Indians to be on top of their lives. The brand is positioned to be relevant to the mass-market who want to make all their dreams, hopes & desires come alive†¦ instantly. (At just Rs. 00/- per month AirTel Magic is so easy to buy. ) Improving productivity, letting you befriend the world and opening up new horizons. It gives you the freedom to control your life in a way never possible before. Indeed, anything that you think is possible is possib le with AirTel Magic. The new brand slogan ‘Magic hai to Mumkin hai’ has been specially created to capture this effectively. This strategy is designed to help us talk to this segment directly in the tone, manner & language of the masses. The â€Å"Mumkin hai value proposition will help us expand the market and gain a higher percentage of market shares in the process. The brand ambassadors Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor embody this ‘can do’ or â€Å"Mumkin Hai† spirit (infact that is the reason they were selected as brand ambassadors). Sharukh rose from a TV actor to become India’s top film star and national heartthrob. Kareena’s success is due to her ‘attitude’, talent, hard work and the sheer ability to make a mark in such a short time. Both these stars have said ‘Mumkin hai’ and made it happen for themselves. The genre of this new strategy & campaign is Hindi cinema led. This genre connects millions across India. The spirit of romance, dancing†¦ the Indian cinema, well known to most as Bollywood, holds millions of Indians together as one. The new brand slogan ‘Aisi azadi aur kahanhas been specially created to capture this effectively. Other Brand Building Initiatives to create loyalty:- The main idea is to stay ahead of competition for at least six months. Working on the above game plan Bharti is constantly coming up with newer product offerings for the customers. The focus, of course, is to offer better quality of service. To make the service simpler for customers using roaming facilities, Airtel has devised common numbers for subscribers across the country for services like customer care, food services and cinema amongst others. †¢ It will also launch a unified billing system across circles so, customers moving from one place to another do not have to close and then again open new accounts at another place. †¢ To assist customer care personnel to deal with subscriber queries, a storehouse of 40,000 frequently asked questions and their answers have been stored on the computers. †¢ Bharti expects that most of its new customers (one estimate is that it would be 60 to 70 per cent of the total new subscriber base) would come from the pre-paid card segment. So, they must be given value-added products and services which competitors don’t provide. †¢ Bharti, for the first time for a cellular operator, has decided to offer roaming services even to its pre-paid customers, but the facility would be limited to the region in which they buy the card. To ensure that customers don’t migrate to other competing services (which is known as churn and ranges from 10 to 15 per cent of the customer base every month), the company is also working on a loyalty program. This will offer subscribers tangible cash benefits depending upon their usage of the phone. The loyalty program will not be only for a ‘badge value’, it will provide real benefits to customers. The idea is to create an Airtel community. †¢ Another key area which Bharti is concentrating its attention upon is a new roaming service launched in Delhi under which calls of a roaming subscriber who is visiting the city will be routed directly to his mobile inste ad of traveling via his home network. †¢ The company also offers multi-media messaging systems under which customers having a specialized phone with a in- built camera can take pictures and e-mail it to friends or store it in the phone. The cost per picture is between Rs 5 to Rs 7. Bharti is also aware that it has to make owning a ready-to-use cellular service much easier than it is today. A key area is to increase the number of activation centers. Earlier Bharti had 250 Airtel Connect stores which were exclusive outlets (for its services) and about 250 Airtel Points which were kiosks in larger shops. Now activation can be done by all of them, and not only by Connect outlets, all within 15 to 20 minutes. In comparison, the competition takes two to four hours. †¢ Pre- paid cards are really catching up with the mobile phone users and it is actually helping the market to increase. First, they are easier to obtain and convenient to use. Unlike post- paid, one need not pay security deposits for picking up a pre- paid card. It is often available even with paanwalas. As befits a fast-moving consumer service, the game is now moving beyond price to expanding distribution reach and servicing a well-spread-out clientele with technology and strategic alliances. Bharti is focusing on two factors to make pre-paid cards more attractive. Keeping the entry cost low for consumers and making recharging more convenience. †¢ Bharti is in the process of launching a new system in alliance with Mumbai-based company Venture Infotech which will enable a pre-paid card user to renew his subscription by just swiping a card. The system will not only save users the hassle of going out and buying a card every time it expires but also enable mobile companies to reduce the cost of printing and distributing cards. †¢ Bharti Televentures has tied up with ‘Waiter on wheels,' a company delivering food at home, to reach its Magic pre-paid cards to subscribers' doorsteps. The company is also joining hands with local grocery shops which will enable users to recharge their cards by just making a phone call to the shop. †¢ Apart from improving the convenience of recharging, mobile operators are beefing up their distribution channels. The company is constantly innovating to enhance the value proposition for its pre-paid service. They are leveraging technology to expand their distribution network and deliver round-the-clock recharge options to its MOTS (Mobile On the Spot) subscribers. Bharti Cellular has also launched a special service, CareTouch, for high-value, corporate customers, providing them with instant, single-point access for any assistance they require. Customers can dial 777 and enjoy a slew of services, which includes easier payment of bills, service on priority basis, and value-added services without any additional paper work. Bharti Cellular is offering a range of services without going through an interactive voice recorder ensuring that they save time. Dedicated ‘CareTouch’ executives are expected to assist customers with any service on priority basis. Besides the regular proactive reminder calls for bill payment, customers can also call CareTouch for bill payments at free of cost. †¢AirTel presented MTV Inbox; the first ‘on-air’ SMS based interactive music dedication show exclusively for AirTel and AirTel Magic customers. Highly interactive VJ based show with real-time feedback mechanism. Both brands joined hands to target the high growth youth segment. BRAND RECALL- for brand recall airtel used so many promotional strategies as celebraty endorsement ? also goes for promotional activites like hoardings, billboards, sponser many events ? along with this amny corporate social activity being carried out by airtel ? signature tune as given by A. R Rehman being the most successf ul tool of Airtel in creating brand recall; Bharti’s View on its Branding strategy:- First, brand building efforts in today’s context have to be seen in a more holistic manner. Delivering value on a sustained basis is perhaps the most potent key to build a brand that lasts. Unflinching orientation to customer needs is the second key success factor. Customers (be it for industrial products or consumer goods and services) across the world are more informed and, at the same time, becoming more individualistic in their needs and far more demanding with the passage of time. Pro-active tracking of shifts in consumer behavior, anticipating redefined or emerging customer needs, and then reacting in â€Å"real- time† are essential to attract and retain customer loyalty — a key element of creating brand equity in the present situation. Customizing the product (and communication of its benefit) to meet the specific needs of various consumer/customer sub-segments is the third element in creating brand appreciation. As far as allocation of time and financial resources are concerned, too many companies mistakenly allocate a disproportionate amount on mere advertising and promotion. This is not to say that advertising and promotion are less relevant. On the contrary, with more choices and higher media clutter, businesses need to budget for an increasingly higher spend on their brand promotion but this has to be undertaken in tandem with enterprise-wide â€Å"reengineering† of the business philosophy and core design, production, and delivery operations for the product itself. The positive spin to this argument is that by first addressing the fundamentals, the enterprise itself becomes more competitive. This can be the beginning of a virtuous cycle wherein brand equity continues to increase as the enterprise sustains delivery of an appropriate product or service at an ever increasing value. It is, however, crucial to note that in the years to come, not only will the cost of building a regional or a national (or an international) brand will continue to rise but also the time taken to do so will be longer and will need sustained and focused efforts. Brand value:- â€Å"The brand Airtel is our most valuable asset after our people. We have built it with a lot of passion,† says Bharti Airtel CEO and Joint Managing Director Manoj Kohli. Airtel is all about trust, innovation and ownership bundled with an emotional connection. I can think of very few brands in the whole world which straddle so many categories and talk to so many different economic groups. † Tata, Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group and Airtel have been identified as the top three most valuable brands in India by 4PsBusiness  and Marketing magazine in its annual ranking released here Friday. And according to icmr survey Airtel is regarded as the second trusted and valued service provided brand after LIC. Essay Sample on Barrack Obama Voting for the President

Essay Sample on Barrack Obama Voting for the President Can Barrack Obama be the next President of the USA? Barrack Obama is a Junior United States Senator from Illinois, and a running candidate for the Democratic Partys nomination for the 2008 Presidential elections against Hilary Clinton, ex-First wife of Ex-President Bill Clinton. Obama already broke boundaries as the fifth and current African-American serving in the US Senate. He graduated from Columbia University and Harvard Law School. However, Obamas blackness was put in question because of his inheritance. His father came from Kenya and his mother is white American. This was put into question every time talks about America being ready for a Black president emerge. As with the pros and cons, Obamas political agendas are not any different from Clintons platform. It’s just that he is Black and male, and Clinton is white and female. Both are banking on their weakness points (Black and Female) to arouse vote sympathies and to prove that one can go beyond his or her weakness point to serve the great country of America, if he or s he would be elected President. Obama being black however rouses more questions instead of sympathies for him. Recent polls showed Clinton being 40 points higher than him. However, when it comes to black polls, Obama leads Clinton with a sweeping 24 points, but this is in the Black community. Nonetheless, a survey among Black citizens whether America is ready for a Black President showed that most of them dont believe that this is the time for it; or that they would live long enough to witness it. If Black citizens have this mindset, what more the White citizens? Part of Obamas problem with black voters is that he is viewed by whites as the first black candidate with a legitimate shot at the White House. When white America has embraced a candidate as they have with Barrack Obama there is a certain amount of distrust that goes with this among a number of African Americans, Wilson said (cnn.com). The only advantage that can be seen once Obama wins Presidential election is having an educated man with an educated list of priorities and programs that if dealt with and completed thoroughly, United States would perhaps be still the greatest nation in the world. The drawback however, is the unprepared ness, still, of most Americans, as well as abroad in dealing with a Black President. There might be an issue of bias leaning towards the favor of Blacks and Whites may see it as threat (hopefully not leading for Civil War II). Nonetheless, in terms of readiness, America is ready, actually, but to exercise clearly that readiness through voting might still be impossible. Yes, they are open but somehow theres this secret power that keeps them from making their â€Å"open-mindedness† known through voting Obama for President. So we have seen the gradual maturing of an America which now accepts that Blacks can do more than play sports and entertain them. The reality is thateven though Blacks in positions of influence owe their success to the Thurgood Marshalls, Martin Luther Kings, Fannie Lou Hamers and Jesse Jacksonsthis success is not the alternative to civil rights activism. It is the result of civil rights activism, then and now. This does not mean racism no longer exists, and it certainly does not mean that all America will embrace a Black commander in chief. But it does mean that the climate is set for an active strategic minority to mobilize the majority to victory (Sharpton, 2007).

Feminism in Anne Bradstreets Poems Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Feminism in Anne Bradstreets Poems - Essay Example Through poems, poets express their deepest feelings and thoughts, about the personal, social and political situations of their times. In the past, it was considered that only men are capable of writing poetry, as it takes guts and courage to express the bold and revolutionary thoughts, ideas and feelings openly. Hence, when a woman living in the 17th century, used poetry as a medium to express her deepest and the darkest fears, agonies, hopes and dreams, then it left an unforgettable mark in the history of poetry. The woman who left an indelible mark in the world of literature through her poems which mirrored her deep sentiments and protest against the Puritan ways that restricted women from living a free and respectable life, was Anne Bradstreet (Martin, â€Å"An American† 5). When Anne Bradstreet’s poems were reclaimed by American woman writer in 1960’s, then her free thinking and her feelings about woman’s position in the society, made her to be known a s a feminist poet (Frost 117). However, feminism in Anne Bradstreet’s poetry was not expressed boldly and ‘loudly’, but was visible in a subtle way through language that was socially acceptable, polished and pious in nature. Even though Anne Bradstreet was a free thinker and believed in equality of women, it can be said that in initial part of her life, feminism was visible more in her intellectual curiosity about God and her bold spiritual quest (which was not expected of women in her time), than through an outright reference to women’s freedom and equality in her poems. However, when she sensed rejection and suppression of her art by people, due to her being a female, then the feminist in her was awakened. Hence, it won’t be wrong to say that it was the love and passion of her art that awakened the feminist in Anne Bradstreet, and made her to revolt against the Puritan restrictions and limitations forced on women in her time. Feminist At Heart Wom en who are well aware of their rights and fight against the cruel and selfish behavior of men towards them are called as feminists. However, rather than showing her opposition and revolt in her actions and poetry, Anne Bradstreet chose to express her true feelings in mild ways which were in sync with the Puritan America and social standards of her time (Frost 117). Hence, feminism in Anne Bradstreet’s poetry was expressed in subtle ways initially. Rather than writing about her experience of the external world and what she felt and knew about it, Anne Bradstreet’s poetry was a way of escapism from the reality of her life (Rich xiv). She avoided using her personal life experiences as a subject of her poems. It was not common for women of her time (Puritan) to think of anything apart from her limited world of her family, husband, children, household chores and duties (Rich xiv). ‘Independence’ of women was considered a ‘prideful monster’ in the P uritan doctrines (Martin, â€Å"Shakespeare’s Sisters† 19). However, Anne Bradstreet was an educated and very well read woman (Rich xi). She was intellectually aware and gained knowledge about the subjects like theology, history and literature (Rich xi). This made her to show curiosity about the topics which were considered the domain of men and hence, she got the reputation of being a modern woman who had spirit to go beyond the limited world that was forced on women of her time (Rich xvi). Hence, her thinking ability and the spirit to go
